Let me start by saying that I have been to a considerable number of doctors over the years to manage challenging chronic health conditions. So when my husband and I came to Dr. Bartels in the summer of 2021 with difficulty conceiving our first child and a prior diagnosis of “unexplained infertility” from another fertility clinic in the area, I didn’t have the highest of hopes. Having my concerns dismissed by medical professionals at other practices was a routine experience for me. What my husband and I received from Dr. Bartels was far different.
One of the most valuable strengths of Dr. Bartels’ medical care is her willingness to listen and take the concerns of her patients seriously. I came to our consults with many questions and specific concerns based on past health challenges, and she took the time to address each issue thoroughly. Never once did Dr. Bartels rush my husband and I through an appointment, even when the allotted “15 minutes” of patient interaction that insurance companies often urge doctors to follow was surpassed.
Dr. Bartels offered several avenues of diagnosis and treatment options, not pressuring us to follow a course of action we were uncomfortable with. Ultimately, she recommended diagnostic laparoscopy to detect suspected endometriosis. We felt confident in her recommendation, and the surgery resulted in a successful diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis.
One month after treatment, my husband and I were able to conceive our little miracle naturally after years of infertility. We couldn’t have been more surprised or happier.
If we were still on the TTC journey and had not yet conceived, I would still offer the highest praise for Dr. Bartels and her level of medical excellence and care. A doctor who excels in her field AND who listens to her patients is a treasure. That’s exactly what we found in Dr. Bartels. Can’t recommend her enough.
